| Always found it interesting to see who uses which and why. Which set-up do you guys prefer? - Minimap on (all the time),
- No minimap (use z/x keys),
- Both (but rarely use the other)
Personally, I do not use the minimap at all. I overdose on the z/x keys, and I do not use the Arrow during 1v1s. The minimap takes too much space (for me), even if it's transparent, it counts as an added blind spot to me. |

| I generally use the minimap to have an idea on where everyone is, but for actually hitting people I use Z/X. |

| I used to use z/x all the time but the minimap is better for me because if I'm looking back, I won't be able to see anything in front of me. It's also useful for killing racers if you know their trail. |

| When I used to go on, I always used the mini-map. Very useful to spot when wasters are coming in from sharp, unseen angles so I can dodge 'em. Also useful to spot when other people are about to collide so that I can try and run in and help out a bit or just stay away from that area. |

| I flicker it on/off (for roughly half a second) when I quickly need to check where someone is or if someone is attacking me, else I just keep it off. |

| I keep it on all the time, but don't use it for lag hits, using Z/X instead. What I do find really useful though is the DS addons arrow that tells you how far away your opponent is. I can't play without it now, I find it extremely helpful. |

| I keep the minimal on in order to prevent <- that guy over there from being cornered or surrounded by my opponents. When it comes to attacking, I use z/x |

| The minimap is good for racers (especially in both games), and wasters in small stage, 6-8 player games.
Outside of this use, it's either unnecessary or harmful to gameplay. It is easy to use to dodge hits, but its lack of precision and specification prevents a user from gathering a decent sense of danger as well as a grasp of what their opponent's lag trail is. It's simple to see a dot and run from it when it nears your dot, but it's not always good enough. What's that dot's trajectory? What side of your car will it come from? How close is it exactly? Is it airborne? Gliding?
All these questions cannot be answered from the minimap. So far, it's been the #1 problem I've seen out of all the wasters I've analyzed since its implementation into NFMM.

| I use minimap most of the time, but i'm currently learning how to use Z/X keys to my advantage, so I've been using it more often, lately. |

| The minimap just makes me paranoid. I'm not even sure if I use it or not because a lot of times I forget to close it. The minimap does not show speed, direction, distance, if they are targetting you, if they have a bad landing or if they're targeting you but crashed into someone else. Long story short, the minimap distracts me by looking at it too long and I end up driving poorly. It can be effective, but the amount of space it takes is counter productive imo. |

| I cannot waste anymore without Minimap on the entire time. Without it I panic. I use it to avoid any dot that stalks me, and sometimes I land great hits with it too. I no longer use Z or X, but people still say it helps so I might go back to both. |

| Map + z/x. I have the map on all the time (ever since it was put into the game), it has become part of my personal strategy. I use z/x whenever I think it's safe—I try to make sure no one is in front of me or heading that direction. |

| Well I have been advised to only use z/x which i only use now. I barely touch mini map anymore only rare if i flicker it on to check where a player is if i cant see them behind something. But i find mini map when in a both game useful since I can see the drm attack setting up across stage. |
